WHEN AN ENTIRE FAITH IS JUDGED BY THE ACTIONS OF FEW: THE DANGER OF ONE-SIDED NARRATIVES

One of the greatest injustices in our world today is not just discrimination itself, but the way discrimination is sometimes disguised as common sense, public opinion or media narratives. For many Muslims around the world, there is a growing feeling that they are often required to carry the burden of proving their innocence for crimes they never committed. When a Muslim commits a crime, the spotlight frequently shifts beyond the individual and onto the religion itself. Suddenly, millions of Muslims are expected to explain, condemn and distance themselves from the actions of a single person. Yet when similar crimes are committed by people from other religious, ethnic or social backgrounds, the discussion often remains focused on the individual rather than the faith they belong to. This double standard is one of the reasons many Muslims feel misunderstood. Islam is a faith practiced by more than a billion people across different cultures, languages and nations. It teaches justice, mercy,...

THE VOICE IN YOUR HEAD THAT NEVER SEEMS SATISFIED

The Human mind is the most important thing and it can become one of the loudest places in your life when the voice in it never feels satisfied. No matter what you do or what you achieve, it tells you it's not enough. No matter how hard you try, it keeps reminding you of that thing you haven't done. Even in moments you are to feel proud of yourself, that voice quietly whispers to you that you're behind, you could have done better with this or it tells you that you're not where you are yet.  There are lots of people out there who silently carry this kind of pressure in them. We all constantly smile on the outside while we keep fighting a tough battle on the inside. We wake up everyday trying to be better, wanting to do more, achieve more success, fix more and somehow, our minds still refuses to understand the little progress we're making. And with that, we begin to criticize ourselves.  Sometimes, those whispers comes from comparison. We look at people around us and w...

REMINDER BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE

“ I had the chance to get up while most people don’t.” That statement alone carries a weight many hearts are not prepared for. Imagine laying inside a grave while still breathing… Hearing silence around you, feeling the tightness, the loneliness, the reality of what every soul must eventually face. For many people, death is only something they mention when others die. But very few truly pause to imagine themselves inside that final home down in the earth. There is this video of a brother who acted dead and was placed in a grave for a funeral workshop thing. That brother experienced something most people will never experience until it is too late, a reminder. A reminder that this world is temporary. A reminder that titles, money, beauty, pride, followers, arguments, and worldly distractions will one day lose their meaning. A reminder that every soul will eventually return to Allah alone. No friends. No family. No social status. No applause. Just you, your deeds and your Lord. Sometimes,...

UNCHECKED ENTITLEMENT: ITS DANGER AND WHY WE MUST PROTECT OUR ENERGY

There is this thing that many of us do not attach so much importance to but deep down, it is a painful reality many of us have experienced and yet, we rarely talk about it openly.  Many of us have lived through times when we felt like a little support from someone closer to us was all we needed, and we would have done better, but that never happened. We had to sail through almost everything all by ourselves.  There are times when all we needed were just words of encouragement, someone to tell you that you've done well but no one was really there to see what we needed and the words never came, if not being replaced by harsh words.  It is not something to deny, but a lot of people would agree that the people who have done us the least of favors, contributed little to none in our lives, never helped through our journey in life are the ones who most times feel the most entitled to our time, our energy, our focus and participation and even our successes in their own lives. It'...
